Contract Engineering Services has an immediate opportunity for a Drafter. This person will ensure that all paper drawings that are in Drawing Control’s flat file drawers, are numbered and viewable in the Meridian computer system.

Specific tasks will include:

Evaluate existing electrical and/or civil engineering drawings of power transmission facilities for completeness and identify and correct any drafting errors, omissions, or other problems with the drawings.
Evaluate each flat file drawer to identify any un-numbered drawings. Coordinate with the appropriate Electrical Engineer (EE) and Civil Engineer (CE) for guidance on drawing numbers. Label unnumbered drawings and prepare an As-build drawing package, to get these drawings into the Meridian System. Please note that obsolete drawings may also be ‘voided’ or ‘purged’ from the system at this stage.
Evaluate each folder in the Meridian computer system to identify any files that indicate “No Image Available.” Coordinate with the appropriate EE, CE, and/or Drawing Control personnel to find the drawing(s) and prepare an As-build package to get these drawings into the Meridian System. Please note that obsolete drawings may also be ‘voided’ or ‘purged’ from the system at this stage.
Evaluate each file in the Meridian Viewer and identify files that are obviously not legible. Fixes may include but are not limited to verifying & fixing X-ref and Image links. This will require coordination with the appropriate EE, CE, and/or Drawing Control personnel to resolve issues, and may require preparation of an As-build package.
Evaluate various network drives and directories for drawing flies that were converted from paper drawings to electronic files by Veriplan. Compare various versions of the same drawing and prepare an As-build drawing packages as necessary, to get these drawings into the Meridian System. Please note that obsolete drawings may also be ‘voided’ or ‘purged’ from the system at this stage.
Evaluate each folder in the Meridian computer system to identify any files that indicate “Un-supported file format.” Coordinate with the appropriate EE, CE, and/or Drawing Control personnel to re-render these images and/or prepare an As-build package to correct the problems. Please note that obsolete drawings may also be ‘voided’ or ‘purged’ from the system at this stage.

Experience

Two to three years of AutoCAD drafting experience preferably with electrical and civil drafting skills.
Experience as a Poweruser with BlueChielo’s Meridian software is desired.
Experience in the electric utility industry with power transmission facilities desired.
