Mechanical Engineer Job Summary

This Mechanical Engineer- PE will perform duties in support of various project teams for several Federal clients (Veterans Administration, Department of Defense, etc.).

Mechanical Engineer Required Experience:

6 + years of relevant experience
Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical Engineer Qualifications &/or Requirements:

PE License
Possess an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
Building/Structural design experience is required.
Dept. of Veterans Affairs, Corps of Engineers &/or other DoD engineering experience desired.
LEED Certification is desirable.
Requires U.S. Citizenship and may require a security clearance.
Be self-motivated, able to perform and solve problems independently, and take the initiative to make sound decisions with minimal oversight.
Possess good written and oral communication skills
Proficiency in computer design software programs including: AutoCad (Autodesk or Bentley), Construction Estimating systems, MS Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, et.) MS Project & Visio, Adobe Acrobat, and other various design and project scheduling software.
Experience with BIM/Revit a bonus.

Mechanical Engineer Major Duties:

Designs new mechanical equipment, systems and modifications for facilities (heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, plumbing, and fire protection systems).
Evaluates design objectives, performs complex technical calculations, identifies economical and efficient procedures for design and resolves applicability of criteria.
Prepares construction plans on AutoCAD and prepares layouts for development of drawings by technicians and reviews completed work for technical adequacy and completeness.
Prepares technical specifications, material estimates, correspondence, technical reports, and portions of design memoranda.
Makes site visits to identify and eliminate conflicts with conservation criteria.
Prepares detailed engineering economic analyses to produce more energy efficient operations.
Provides solutions to mechanical construction issues.
Coordinates reviews and recommends approval action of shop drawings, submittals, and O&M manuals submitted on construction projects.
Mentor and guide jr engineers, maintaining a comprehensive understanding of design standards, engineering codes, and Valhalla guidelines, providing suggestions and recommendations as needed.

Travel Required : Estimated up to 10%
