Structural Engineer

Senior Structural Engineer with bridge expertise to join our Structural Services Group. This position may be based out of our Denver or Colorado Springs office. We are looking for a team member who is innovative, motivated, and dedicated to creating value for our customers.

Structural Engineer Summary
Responsible for serving as a technical specialist who develops and applies advanced engineering concepts and approaches to projects to ensure they maintain the safety and stability required. Discipline involves the application of structural dynamics theories, including the distribution of loads, stresses resulting from loads, and strength of materials, such as for the design or construction of vertical building structures, bridge and tunnel design and construction, seismic analysis of structures, and inspection and condition rating of bridges. Makes independent decision on most technical issues.

Structural Engineer Essential Functions
• Project administration for mid-size to large-scale projects from initial programming stages through construction administration.
• Development of construction plans, specifications, and construction cost estimates for transportation projects.
• Provide QA/QC for team members’ work.
• Work within defined scope, schedule and budget parameters.
• Communicate as appropriate to director of structures and project team concerning questions, concerns, progress and results.
• Coordinate with other disciplines and locations as necessary.
• Proficient at technical report writing.
• Proposal writing, cost estimating, and client management as necessary.
• Perform business development activities and maintenance of positive client relationships.
• May supervise the work of less experienced engineers and/or technical support personnel.

Structural Engineer Competencies
• Competency in standard Autocad and structural software products.
• Structural engineering including the design of drainage structures, retaining walls, water treatment, and advanced structural analysis is preferred.
• Work independently as well as effectively collaborate with teams.
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Structural Engineer Supervisory Responsibilities
• Supervise, manage, direct and provide oversight of tasks and responsibilities for engineering staff and/or other technical support. Mentor and train engineering staff as needed.

Structural Engineer Education
• Undergraduate or graduate degree from accredited program in civil or structural engineering.
• Colorado Professional Engineering (PE) licensure or ability to obtain CO PE within one year.
• Minimum eight (8) years of progressive experience in most aspects of vertical buildings and bridge engineering evaluations, and inspection.
• Strong industry relationships and an understanding of municipal, state and federal criteria.
• Demonstrated project and program management experience.
• Valid driver’s license, in conjunction with successfully passing the Company’s MVR.
